Where to go

Exploring the beauty of Kefalonia

Short and long distance sights in Kefalonia

Using Blue Paradise as your base you can explore these nearby places indicated below with their approximate distance from our hotel. Beaches, caves, small towns and villages are just some of the beauties of this magnificent and blessed place we call Kefalonia.

Central square of Argostoli – 0.1km

The central square in Argostoli is just half a minute walk from Blue Paradise Studios and it is the heart of Kefalonia. At any point during the summer, there are hundreds of kids playing ball, old couples walking hand in hand, and it’s surrounded by a couple dozen restaurants, cafes, and small bars. The restaurants here are a bit more expensive and touristy. The three or four bars open during the summer, Cafe Polo, Le Sapien Noir, O Platanos, are great for coffee during the day, and spill over into the streets with crowds of party goers enjoying a drink or two at night. The bars usually stay open until four or five in the morning. If you’re a professional partier, you’ll join the crowds down the street for the after hours at Club Bass or Club Sin City until seven or eight in the morning. Then you’ll go for gyros at Gyro Tis Platias (Gyro in the square) or crepes at Fagoto for breakfast before bed. Both located next to each other in the main square.

The Drogarati Cave – 25km

Drogarati cave stands a few kilometres outside the town of Sami (25 km from Blue Paradise/Argostoli) It consists of two parts and is accessible to tourists and houses cultural events. It has extraordinary acoustics, thus its name: “Hall of Apotheosis”. The regulated lighting in combination with the multi-coloured stalactites creates a picture of unique beauty.

The Cave Lake of Melissani – 25km

Near Sami (25 km from Blue Paradise/Argostoli) you will find the Melissani Lake cavern, once the worship site for god Pan’s ancient cult, near Karavomylos, accessible by small boat. The sunlight, entering through the cave’s collapsed part of the roof, turns everything within the cave into a fairyland of iridescent light.

Myrtos Beach – 33km

Myrtos is without doubt one of the most important poles of attraction in Kefalonia. It is located 33km north of Argostoli, in a beautiful area around huge verdant hills. Myrtos beach has gained worldwide reputation and has been constantly included in travel magazines among the best beaches in Greece and in the world. It has been awarded many times for its cleanness and the natural beauty.

At 58 km from Blue Paradise (Argostoli) lies the fishing village Fiskardo, long known to the yacht set and now visited by the rich and famous, offers a mix of quaint old-world charm and luxurious grace for those who seek it.
